Regulatory Update: SWFWMD Launches New Appian ePermitting System on July 7
Posted on July 6, 2026
The Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) has announced that, effective July 7, 2026, Environmental Resource Permitting (ERP) will transition to the District's new Appian ePermitting platform.
Beginning July 7, all new ERP applications, permit modifications, and pre-application scheduling requests must be submitted through the new Appian system. Well Construction Permitting and Water Use Permitting will continue to be processed through the District's legacy Water Management Information System (WMIS) at this time.
Permit applicants should monitor www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/business/epermitting/environmental-resource-permit for the latest updates to e-permitting.
This transition is administrative, leaving ERP regulations, review criteria, and permitting requirements unchanged. Projects affecting wetlands, surface waters, or stormwater systems will continue to be reviewed under SWFWMD's existing regulatory framework, and compensatory mitigation requirements will continue to apply where required by applicable state permits.
Revive Ecosystems, LLC collaborates with permit applicants throughout Florida to evaluate wetland impacts, develop mitigation strategies, and coordinate mitigation bank credit transactions for projects requiring state and federal environmental permits.
